Sudden Death Rates Among Young Adults Increased Due to Heart Disease

We are deeply concerned about health and endeavor to raise awareness about heart diseases among the younger generation, which have tragically increased in the post-Covid-19 period.

Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, has informed the parliament that there have been instances of sudden deaths among some young individuals who had contracted COVID-19. However, it should be noted that there is currently insufficient evidence to definitively confirm the cause of these tragic occurrences.

To better understand the situation and address the rising cases of cardiac arrest following COVID-19, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is undertaking three comprehensive studies.

The first study aims to analyze the ‘factors associated with sudden deaths among adults aged 18 to 45 years’ in India. This will involve a multi-centric matched case-control study, wherein different groups will be compared based on various parameters.

The second study focuses on assessing the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine on thrombotic events among individuals aged 18 to 45 years in India. This study will also be conducted as a multi-centric, hospital-based, matched case-control study.

The third study is titled ‘Establishing the cause of sudden unexplained death in the young’ and will involve both virtual and physical autopsies.

It is imperative that we prioritize our health by adopting a balanced diet and engaging in regular exercise, as these practices play a crucial role in maintaining overall fitness and well-being.

Remember, a Healthy Heart equals a Healthy Us.
